"Very good toy for the current price" 2009-09-27
By Shifty Devil (central Illinois)
Off-the-bat I should say that I have just un-boxed it and it seems to work great, no smoking battery box, the screen works, the lights work, the straps haven't broken. This is not a proper review because I got it for a nephew's birthday coming up and he won't get it for a few days. After reading all the reviews I decided I had to take it out and make sure it works and not disappoint him with a non-functioning gift. I also figured that after reading about the problems some have had that I now had the knowledge to be the best choice for removing it without breaking anything. I now only hope I am not vilified by the parents for giving such a battery-hungry gift. Hey, at least it will be a break from all the Lego-mania.

The following information is primarily a re-post of a response I made to an earlier post so that the information is more likely to be seen. After reading all the reviews, I didn't see this point made in any of them so I thought I should pass it on now. I may be back with an actual review of the item after it has been in use for a while.

****Push the button at the attachment point (angled, false screw head) and pull the inside strap to loosen it. Pull the excess to tighten.****

The "False Screw" buttons on the attachment points DO NOT LOOSEN THE SNAP-IN PEGS, as mentioned by an earlier poster in his "missing manual". DON'T waste your time trying to do what he says. THE BUTTONS ON THE SIDE ATTACHMENT POINTS ARE FOR RELEASING THE INTERNAL RATCHETING LOCK MECHANISM FOR THE STRAPS and this is mentioned nowhere in the manual. The strap attachment points just snap in to holes in the goggles and can be removed by rotating them 90 degrees so the strap points down and squeezing the posts together from INSIDE the goggles. There is a tab on one of the posts and a slot in the goggle-hole that match up when rotated 90 degrees, but these are not meant to be removed for normal adjustments. The strap is prevented from loosening while wearing by a ratcheting lock inside the attachment point. The strap excess can be easily pulled to tighten it on the wearer's head but TO LOOSEN IT THE BUTTON SHOULD BE PRESSED to release the latch. This may be why so many straps have been broken, because people have been just trying to pull the strap through without releasing the lock. The instructions for the goggles should really say this is the way to adjust the straps, but no mention is made of it - hence the breakage.

"A new type of toy" 2009-09-27
By Hozona Bullock
This is was a really neat idea. Never would have thought of ACTUAL night vision goggles for kids. The product itself is very basic, just a small screen without an IR filter and mounted High power IR L.E.D.s . but it what it does is it packages all that together into a cool looking goggle that is pretty comfortable, lightweight, and of course, working night vision. The main IR lights can go up to a distance of about 25-35 feet in till the light is no longer visible, while the lower powered ones are about half that. (if you use the high powered one, people can see you but only if they look directly into the faint, faint light). The only downfall is that extended use creates a fog over the screen, putting the fun to a stop. As a first time buyer from this company, i probably will continue to buy from this company.

"My 9 year old son loves this" 2009-09-12
By R. Niles (MA)
I read a lot of the reviews here and I have to say that some of the one star reviews struck me as odd. Obviously this is a toy and it does specify not to run, etc with these on because depth perception is distorted with these goggles on...but like I said...this is a toy. Also, I think that they must've made a newer model of this, because all of the older reviews (2008 and early 2009) said something about pins breaking and straps breaking and my son hasn't had this problem. He's 9, and not very gentle with his toys and this thing has lasted against his abuse. My son absolutely LOVES being able to see in the dark! And it's fun for him because he can see me and his sisters and we can't see him, he thinks that is the coolest. All I have to say is that I would recommend getting it at target or walmart (they both have the same price tag for the toy) because it's cheaper than amazon.

 "No problems" 2009-09-07
By Mark Twain CA (CA)
After reading prior reviews I was worried that I may have problems getting the goggles to work, or that the battery would be short lived. It appears that the product as been updated to correct the problems reported in 2008.

 "Disappointing" 2009-08-12
By Amazon.com fan
Well, these night vision infrared goggles certainly look like they should work really well - especially for the price asked, the involved setup and the ad commentary. But they are not useful - too limiting in field of vision. Sad. What a waste of time and money....

Signed,

Totally Disappointed
