I think this toy has held up pretty well! I've had it for about 1 1/2 years and it still works! It's pretty straightforward, worth your money!, and you don't have to have batteries or electronics! It can hold up to 6 ammo which is enough for a good game, and you just reload. It doesn't break or fall apart since it seems to be pretty sturdy and a harder plastic than the bigger ones. The bigger, the more pieces, and it's a great toy! NOT AIR just spring, so everything stays in place. I took it apart, and easily put it back together unlike the recon which I had to throw away. Well I'd say IT'S WORTH YOUR MONEY!!!

If I had written this review the first day it would have been five stars. But after a few days of giving it to my nephew I saw that it was jamming constantly. As noticed by others, the swing out portion gets stuck, sometimes the cylinder doesn't turn, and the darts get stuck in it often.
Other people had better luck, but my experience was the performance degraded quickly.

I always said, "MY son is never going to play with guns!" Well, if you are a parent you know that sometimes what you think you will never do you sometimes end up doing anyhow, which is why we let our son get some NERF guns. I don't know what it is with boys, even if you don't let them play with toy guns, they still end up making anything they can into a gun - sticks, legos, you name it, and it isn't like I let my son watch violent movies, etc. Anyhow, onto the review....
Got this NERF gun for a great price, about the same as they offer it for on their website direct. Very cool because you can load 6 darts at once, making for a faster shot. I didn't know the darts that come with it were going to be suction cup darts, so that was a nice surprise. We can shoot at the front door or a patio door and the darts stick which is fun. And they really do stick, not like things that are supposed to suction cup onto something but fall right off. For a little while, NERF is having a promotion where if you send in a receipt and a UPC code, they will send you free darts, they don't even require you to pay S&H. Check out their site to see if they are still offering it. Getting the darts for free pays for this gun and then some! We like this NERF gun better than the others my son has. This is the easiest one, and quickest, too.
I gave 3 stars for educational because you can teach your kids what NOT to do with a toy gun - point it at people, shoot the cats, etc. But overall it is more fun than educational, of course!

This is a really great gun. I had to get two because the first one was so awesome. It hardly ever jams.
Cons: if one bullet gets jammed it won't shoot.
Sometimes the bullets only go 1 inch out of the barrel, but this is only if a different brand of bullet is used.
