A whole lot of food for the $$, I couldn't beleive how many pieces are in this set. Nice enough quality. My 18-month-old daughter isn't so into them, she cooks her regular old blocks more than these right now but they're a nice starter play food set and she'll grow into them. I think they make a great gift along with the M&D wooden cookware set.

I bought this instead of a plastic product because of my concerns regarding plastics. And I will point out that I could have probably gotten triple the amount of play food had I gone with plastic. But for safety issues, I chose this set instead. However, after a week of active play the paint is already chipping off of several pieces. So I don't have to worry about BPA, just about my children possibly ingesting lead.
All the Melissa and Doug products I've bought over the last 4 years have really seemed sub-par in quality, and of course they're all made in China. My child really enjoys this set but if I find a vendor with a non-MIC product, I will replace it.

I use this to teach with in daycare. All the kids love playing pretend with it as well. Each food group comes in a different basket wich they love to set in the kitchen set. All of the pieces are very durable & high quailty. Forget the plastic play food and get this you won't have to replace any pretend food for a long time.
