"Great learning toy, and fun, too!" 2009-09-16
By Cincy Grandma
We were looking for a toy that would provide hours of learning, and also be fun to play. This was a birthday present for a 10 year-old, who already has every toy imaginable. We hit the jackpot with this one! He immediately started into the first project (there are 300 of them, in progressing difficulty), and played continuously for an hour and a half, his excitement building with each completed project. How many toys can do that? Even his Dad and uncle became like kids again, joining in the fun. The many pieces are organized in tray slots, so there is a place for every piece. Some of the pieces are small, so use caution around young chidren. This was by far the best price we could find for this kit. Well worth the money, and a great learning toy!!

 "Great" 2009-09-15
By Jay H. Colborn (Tallahassee, FL)
My grandson loved this item. So I've got him larger, more complex, more expensive similar products. I think it is best to start at the top of the line, instead of starting at lower levels and progressing up the ladder to the more expensive ones. I'm talking about this manufacturer. I'll probably get him items costing hundreds of dollars, if he continues to show interest. Expensive? Not at all, if it creates an interest in science which he will continue to develop into adulthood. A great hobby to compete with all the negative influences competing for his time over the years.

 "Great toy!" 2009-09-04

I bought this for my 8 year son for Christmas. He has really enjoyed it. There are so many different projects they can build with it and they are interesting. As far as learning about circuitry... I don't think snapping things togehter teaches this. It does help them to understand things must be hooked together correctly to work. Overall we love it.

"A good kit for sparking creativity" 2009-08-18
By N. B. Kennedy (Hopewell, NJ USA)
My son is moderately interested in how things work and has bursts of creativity designing and building Lego projects. Both his grandfathers were engineers, so I continue to try to encourage this side of his heritage with appropriate toys.

I'm glad to have stumbled on Snap Circuits. A child can easily assemble a working gadget with these simple parts. My son was really proud to have made an AM radio. My dad used to teach a class at a church craft club in which the kids made radios. It took weeks of fiddling and fine-tuning. I can't imagine my son having the patience for that enterprise!

Because of the simplicity of the process, though, I'm not sure that my son has gained much knowledge of how circuits work. But his fifth-grade class studied circuits at just the right time, supplementing the knowledge gained through his experimenting with Snap Circuits. The booklets that come with the toy contain a lot of good information, but nothing my son has taken the time to read. Will he in the future? I hope so. I'm just happy the kit sparks his curiosity now and again.

 "Snap Circuits" 2009-08-04
By D. Nicolds (central coast, california)
My husband bought this for our 8 year old daughter who really wants to build a robot someday. She knew nothing of electronics. She has an absolute blast putting together different circuits to make noise or movement. She loves it and it is a wonderful educational tool. Good quality.
