If you've never played Scrabble before, the Gameplay Guide explains the rules in a clear, easy-to-read way. It also has lots of tips to sharpen your game (a list of "q-without-u" words, for example). The sturdy plastic board needs no assembly and the storage trays cleverly built into the bottom of the board are easy to find, especially with help from the Gameplay Guide. The game also comes with a Gameplay Guide that offers many helpful hints, as well as interesting historical tidbits (For example, did you know the game used to be called "Criss Cross Words?")

Fun and Functional
We really liked the look of this colorful board, with its cheerful blue, green, red, and orange "premium" squares. We also appreciated the way the set folds up into a carrying case, complete with the storage trays and handle. It's not advertised as a travel set, but you can use it that way. You just have to be careful to hold the set closed when transporting it, since it doesn't snap shut. Also, the storage trays can get a little full when you try to put all the letters and racks in one tray, so make sure you tuck everything neatly into the tray so it will close.

I play a lot of Scrabble on the go (at coffee shops, on vacations, etc.) and this set is perfect for that. Small enough to tote around, but folds out into a full size, rotating scrabble-board in a durable hard shell. I also have a smaller travel-scrabble, but I haven't used that since I got this one. The smaller one is hard to put the tiles in, hard to take them out, hard to keep open and flat, and just doesn't feel like old-fashioned scrabble.
The only thing I don't like is the colors of the board. They are too bright and flashy, I'd prefer something more old-fashioned like a woodgrain print or something. Scrabble is supposed to be boring, it doesn't need a cheezy red-white-and-blue color scheme.

This set is so perfect for our kids!
The set up is easy enough for them and i love that even after a year they have yet to lose a piece unlike many other board games we have. Also this one has really stood up to their handling of it again unlike many other games and cards they have.
They do not mind the difference in colors because this was their first board.
Now for the serious scrabble player i can see how they would be disappointed in some of the features
and the fact the colors are different.
For us this was the perfect 1st Scrabble game to get the kids to love playing!

I bought this for my parents... They LOVE scrabble, and they have a timeshare so they are constantly traveling. This is perfect for that purpose exactly. It holds the pieces in place so you can play in a car on a bed without having to worry about messing up all the words. The whole playing board is in a durable and portable carrying case. I recommend this to any scrabble lovers! Enjoy!

I highly recommend this set. It is sturdy and well made of high quality plastic. I folds on itself like a briefcase and has two drawers on the outside to store the tiles and accessories. It has wheels underneath, so players can turn the board around, and the playing surface is designed so that the tiles will not move out of place.

This is a great educational toy for children, of any age, I have four year olds playing, not correctly of course but they enjoy using the letters that they know, so I think its a great start for them.
I would love to have a timer with the game, thats the only down side.
Amazon is great to deal with also.
