By big bluffer (edmonds, wa, usa)
The game is not a new one, but almost as classic as Monopoly. It's a great party game that tends to get even more interesting as the night goes on, especially if there are a few drinks involved. Although the younger set may not enjoy it being more familiar with video games, it does have a good subliminal educational attribute without players being aware that the actual answers to the bluffs they write will stick in their minds for a long time.

"Great for what it is: a party game" 2009-11-07
By Christopher K. Halbower (Muskegon, MI)
Balderdash is probably the best game in its genre: light, party game. Balderdash was created by veteran game designers Laura Robinson ("Identity Crisis") and Paul Toyne ("Beyond Balderdash") and is published by the ubiquitious Parker Brothers Games.

In Balderdash, players are read a word, a person's name or a movie title. Players then secretly write down a false answer depending on what was read. If a word is the topic, players make up false definitions; if a person's name is selected, players make up a false "claim-to-fame"; if a movie title is chosen, players make up a false synopsis. The false answers are collected by the player whose turn it currently is. That player reads the false answers along with the correct answer. Players, in turn order, attempt to guess which answer is correct. If you guess correctly, you score points. If you guess someone else's false answer, they score points.

Balderdash is a great game of creativity and bluffing. It can really get the creative juices flowing. For what it is (a light party game), I give it 5*****. If you are looking for a serious strategy game, you will have to look elsewhere.

The players are plantation owners in Puerto Rico in the days when ships had sails. Growing up to five different kind of crops: Corn, Indigo, Coffee, Sugar and Tobacco, they must try to run their business more efficiently than their close competitors; growing crops and storing them efficiently, developing San Juan with useful buildings, deploying their colonists to best effect, selling crops at the right time, and most importantly, shipping their goods back to Europe for maximum benefit. A novel game system lets players choose the order of the phases in each turn by allowing each player to choose a role from those remaining when it is their turn. No role can be selected twice in the same round. The player who selects the best roles to advance their position during the game will win.

 "Great interactive strategy game" 2009-12-04
By James M. Cook (Chicagoland, IL USA)
Peurto Rico provides a high level of interactive game play between players while maintaining great strategy needs without the use of dice. As the number of players and their experience levels vary between games, a strategy that worked in one game may not be as effective. This helps to provide a great adaptive/replay effect to Puerto Rico. I am very impressed with Puerto Rico and am looking forward to checking out other games by Rio Grande Games.

Excellent game for 2 as well as 4. The game itself should have come with better storing materials; lots of little pieces and no individual ways of storing them. A challenging and thought provoking game with many options for variations.

 "Definitely not an ice-breaker" 2009-09-23
By Jamie G (San Francisco, CA)
Someone brought this game to a quasi-business meeting of acquaintances and strangers as an ice-breaker to help people get to know each other. The questions such as "what made you cry last" and "what would you change about your childhood" were way too personal for the group. Maybe if you only used it with close friends and family it would be OK, but the questions were intrusive in this setting. You could see people read the question and then try to think of an answer that would be OK to use with the group in the room. Definitely not an ice-breaker game.

 "Great family activity" 2009-05-06
By Shauna Dhoble (Harleysville, PA USA)
Great family activity for family meals, gatherings or down time to stimulate conversation. You will learn things about each other that you never knew before. As long as you allow others to express their own statements/opinions without negating them, the game is A LOT of fun. Any age can play as you can skip questions that a younger player may not understand. The box helps to keep the cards in nice condition. My kids and husband don't feel like it's a "corny" game because they get to express their own opinions. We rotate who asks the next question to keep everyone involved.

"Not bad at all, probably as good as it gets" 2009-02-09
By R. Needham (Birmingham, AL USA)
Not every card will send you into long deep interesting conversations. Some are cheesy, and you may even skip one or two occasionally. However, they are fun and do encourage light-hearted conversation beyond just stumbling around "how was your day?"

It's worth the money to find this many discussion topics in one place, and it accomplishes what it's supposed to. All in all, a good buy.

 "These are very ugly" 2009-12-16
By Spin360 (Colorado)
No one has mentioned how ugly these blocks are.

The color scheme on each block is so painfully awful.

Incredibly unattractive blocks.

Very, very, very ugly.

The colors that are on each picture are obnoxious.

They are functional as stacking-nesting blocks, but the pictures are so ugly that I've thrown them out.

 "I'll buy again" 2009-11-24
By Erin (Honolulu)
These blocks are light, which is great because they fall on my toddler often, but it's also the reason that they will eventually burn out. The box they came in is already half gone, but i mean for 10 bucks we've gotten more than our fill out of them at this point. It's worth spending $10 for the fun you get out of them while they last. Like I said, they wernt made to last forever, but thats the reason why they are so great. If they were made out of wood they would be too hard and heavy. Now if they made some out of a durable plastic that would be nice :)

 "Love it!" 2009-11-05
By Tamara L. Bohorquez (chicago)
This stacking toy box is great, my daughter has had them for a year and they are still a "go to" favorite which is impressive.

When she was 18 mo. she would look at the animals and letters, then she moved onto stacking and learning "big" "small" and size relationships...and now she is two and uses it as a "handbag". Our next learning step will be to associate the letters with the animals. "G for Giraffe"...etc.

Great smart toy for any toddler!!

Customer Buzz
 "Colors and Animals too!" 2009-10-28
By F. J. Hilbrandt Jr. (va usa)
These blocks are great! My mother got them for my daughter for a christmas gift a few years ago, she is now 3 years and 9 months. At first she liked to stack and knock down. Know she tries to find the next letter or find the right size to stack ontop of one bock so that the next block is smaller and fits.

The box has a handle so it is easy to carry. And the box can be used to stack on also to make the tower taller. The box is not as sturdy and she has only just started to stack on the box and doesn't use it all the time. She also has as much fun trying to find the right order to put them back in the box.

The blocks also have animals and colors that we use to help teach her them. She now uses them to teach her little brother how to stack, colors, letters and animals. She will also have conversations with the animals on the blocks, so I know that they are sparking her imagination also.

We have not had a problem with these block yet, but other Melissa and Doug cardboard items she has torn. Between her and now he little brother, it is only a matter of time before they tear.

 "Carboard, yes, but sturdy." 2009-10-22
By essel (midwest)
My just-turned 2 year old had fun with this the first time he used it, but wasn't interested in it the the 2nd time I brought it out. His biggest problem was when trying to nest them. If he didn't have the open end facing up (one side out of six possible choices), he couldn't put any of the others inside. He had no problems on the stacking, though. I'll try again in a few weeks.

Our son loves this walker! he is 10mo and plays with it all day, he puts all his toys in it, he gets in it for a ride, he loves the sound it makes when pushing it...We tried several other walkers at a toy store, plan toys, haba..etc. this is the one he liked better. Great price from Amazon too, Thanks! I extremely recomend this product.

 "Love it!" 2009-12-19
By Joz
I bought this wagon for my nephew's 1st birthday. He was walking cautiously, still not on his own. The minute we put this together and placed him in front of it he took hold and was off! It was just what he needed. He pushed it all over the place and bumped into things. The wagon held up well and he was happy. It is the perfect size for him. He is now 2 years old and still uses the wagon. He puts his toys in the front and sometimes climbs in himself, but mostly he likes to push it around. It's an attractive wagon and we have many pictures of him with it. I think this is one of his favorite toys. It is still looking like new!

Customer Buzz
 "Great First Wagon" 2009-12-19
By JohnBick (Dutchess County, NY USA)
We have experienced three of these with our grandchildren, each family having one! They are sturdy wagons that take a real beating. Start with the kids being pushed around in them, then they crawl in and out. Then they learn to stand next to it. Then the big moment, using it as a "walker" taking those first steps while pushing it and screaming with joy at their new-found independence. Then it gets loaded with precious possessions that must be kept at hand! And then it becomes a doll carriage.

And then a baby brother/sister comes along and they get to enjoy carting around the younger sibling and, eventually, teaching them how to use it.

Whel all is finished these don't tend to be thrown away. They are given to friends with first kids and, to our amazement, cleaned up, disassembled and carefully packed away to be saved for the next generation!

Since they do not have a handle to bang around and they do not need to be steered they are perfect for in-home use.

Yeah, this is a review for one just purchased from Amazon (five stars there, too!), but it is also a review of 10+ years experience with the wagons!

 "Great for late walkers" 2009-12-07
By Texan
My son wasn't walking when he received this wagon at 1 year. He immediately began walking around with it, and was inseparable from it for the next 3-5 months. Now, at 2, he rarely plays with it, and prefers his riding toy instead. But for a critical time there, this was his #1 object in the entire house. Maneuverability was an issue initially, but I think this wagon's lack of steering is a bonus, as it helps children build strength and large motor dexterity. And, after being heavily used, the wagon is still in mint condition. Strongly recommended.

Customer Buzz
"Too cute! Our son loves this wagon!!!" 2009-12-06
By J. Russell
If your child is crawling and starting to pull him/herself up to standing, buy this! The joy of seeing your smiling child walking around is priceless. We got this for our son when he turned one. He loves it! He keeps many of his favorite toys in the wagon and stops to play with them, pulls some out, puts new ones in. He can pull himself up by the handle and the wagon has never tipped up from it. Look at the design closer and you will see the handle is actually forward of the rear axles. We brought it to a wedding and all the 2 to 4 year old toddlers couldn't wait to get their hands on it and run around, which gives us lots of hope for the longevity of the wagon. The Radio Flyer Walker Wagon is a well built toy every kid goes crazy for!
